Four perspectives

The text read “It happened. I’m sorry.” And it’s all she can think about. Her sister is gone and there is nothing she can do. The light above her is red, but she doesn’t see it. She can’t see anything through her tears.

“Do we need eggs this week or did we just open the carton?” He asks, tapping the steering wheel.
“No, we opened it yesterday, we do need more bread though. The last loaf went bad.” She looks over to her husband, smiling, before seeing the cars speeding towards them.
She screams.

“Do you want a pup cone?” The person at the counter asks with a smile.
“I think so!” The boy laughs. When he grabs the cone however, he drops it as he hears a loud crash behind him and the shrieking of metal on metal.

“Ma’am, can you hear me?” The paramedic asks, calling over to another to bring a stretcher.
“I have a son,” she says immediately, struggling to breathe, “he’s in the back.” The paramedic nods.
“Okay, Let’s get you out of here.”
